Application Window Opens Today
Dallas, Texas (September 2, 2026): Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, Inc. (MIW), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to advancing female leadership in radio broadcasting, today opened applications for the fourth annual Behind The Mic Mentorship program. Created to champion women behind the microphone, the year-long initiative provides an emerging on-air talent with individualized mentorship, industry access and resources to help advance her career.
Open to female personalities with at least three to five years of experience in a local or national on-air role, Behind The Mic is designed for talent who are ready to take the next step in their professional development. Throughout the year, the selected mentee will gain direct access to accomplished industry professionals for one-on-one conversations, guidance and career-focused insight.
The experience also includes the opportunity to attend Radio Show 2027 this April in Las Vegas, bringing the mentee together with leaders and professionals from across the audio industry.
One female on-air personality from a U.S.-based music format will be selected for the 2026-2027 mentorship. Applications are now open and will be accepted HERE through Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
MIW Board President Sheila Kirby said, “One of MIW’s greatest strengths is the incredible bench of female leadership across our organization and the willingness of those women to invest in the next generation. Behind The Mic puts that strength into action by connecting rising on-air talent with women who have built remarkable careers and understand what it takes to grow and succeed in this industry. MIW is all about creating meaningful opportunities, opening doors and ensuring talented women have the support and relationships they need to keep moving forward.”
