Kirsten Winquist

Kirsten Winquist was born and raised in Safety Harbor, Florida. At an early age, she developed a passion for music and chose the trombone as her instrument. Kirsten was selected to be a part of America's Youngest Jazz Band at the age of eleven, and went on to play the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. By the age of sixteen, she had travelled the country performing with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps.

Kirsten was accepted to Florida State University in 2000. Though she had the opportunity to pursue music performance, her interest in radio led her to a major in Communications. During her sophomore year, Kirsten landed an internship with WXSR-FM, working with the station's morning show and Clear Channel Tallahassee's production department. Upon completion of her internship, she was hired for morning weather and traffic. In short time, Kirsten was promoted to Over-Nights, and then to Middays full-time with the title of Music Director for WXSR-FM. After receiving her degree in Communications, and while working for Clear Channel Tallahassee, she was contacted by Sirius Satellite Radio. She was offered the position of evening host on Jimmy Buffett's Radio Margaritaville, and has been invited to interview Buffett during several of his nationwide tours.

As of 2007, Kirsten secured a position with Emmis Radio in Austin, Texas, moving her from market #161 to market #38. She is now Music Director/Assistant Program Director and Afternoon Host for KLBJ-FM, while continuing to air six nights a week on Radio Margaritaville, Sirius 31, XM 55. she maintains an active role in the community by participating in charity bike rides such as Lance Armstrong's Livestrong and Tour De Cure, and is a board member of her neighborhood home owners association. Being a Florida girl, Kirsten never passes up an opportunity to be out on the water.

Kirsten also loves going out to hear live music and spending time with family and friends.
