Val Maki began her radio career in the
early 80’s as Sales Development Director at KRSP-AM/FM
in Salt Lake City. She joined Emmis Communications in
1984 where she has since held various positions in sales
and management including Co-op Vendor Director for WLOL-FM
Minneapolis, VP/Corporate Sales Development, VP/General
Sales Manager at WCDJ in Boston, VP/General Sales Manager
at Q-101 Chicago, Senior VP/Market Manager at KPWR-FM
and KZLA-FM in Los Angeles, and currently Radio Division
Vice President overseeing Emmis’ Los Angeles and
Austin stations.
Maki
has served on committees for the RAB, the NAB, the Broadcast
Ad Club in Chicago and on the Board of Directors for
the Southern California Broadcasters Association. She
was the first winner of Radio Ink Magazine’s Radio
Wayne Award in 1992 for Broadcaster of the Year. Radio
Ink Magazine also voted Maki as one of the 20 Most Influential
Women in Radio for the past three years.
Maki
received a BA from DePaul University concentrating on
Management. Her leisure activities are filled with writing,
piano, travel, hiking, aerobics, reading and movies.
