| Mary Bennett's broadcast career has spanned over twenty-five years, six Radio formats, and a stint as a short-form programming provider. As Executive Vice President, Marketing for the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), Mary has assumed a leadership position in numerous projects that affect Radio and its customers, and has been a driving force in programs that are reshaping perceptions about the medium.
In addition to extolling the asset values of Radio advertising, under her stewardship, RAB National Marketing has become a prominent resource for advertisers and agencies. In recent years, she expanded the Department to three times its original size and has steered the Division to accomplish its objective to increase awareness of Radio's attributes within the advertising and agency communities.
Mary joined the RAB Marketing Division in 1996, and has held her current position since late 1999. A native of Detroit, she worked for two of that city's most successful stations, WNIC and WWWW (W4 Country), principally in sales management and station management. Mary also spent three years as Vice President, General Manager of Shamrock Broadcasting's KZFX-FM in Houston, Texas.
She is intricately involved in a number of industry initiatives including: the Radio Ad Effectiveness Lab (RAEL), where she is a member of the Board of Directors and Vice-Chair of the Research Committee; the RAB E-Business Task Force which she co-chairs; the Board of Directors of the $100,000 Radio-Mercury Awards; and the AAAA/RAB Buying and Selling Guidelines Task Force. Mary is also the current National Vice President of the Board of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT).
She is a past recipient of numerous awards, including the coveted "Radio Wayne" Award; the AWRT Detroit Chapter's award for "Outstanding Woman in Radio Management," and the prestigious "Genii Award" from the AWRT Southern California chapter. AWRT also recognized Mary one of the " Sales & Marketing Women Who RULE in Radio & Television," and she has been named one of Radio Ink Magazine's "Most Influential Women in Radio" for seven consecutive years.
