As President of McGavren Guild and an 18 year radio veteran, Lisa Sirotka-Sonnenklar oversees a rep firm with billings of more than $200 million annually. Named to Radio Ink’s 2004 and 2005 list of Most Influential Women in Radio, Lisa has been an active member of the group that began working as an MIW mentor in June 2004.
Before being named to her current position in 2003, Lisa was President of Interep's Allied Radio Partners. When she was named to this position in 1999, she became only the third female rep firm president in Interep's long and illustrious history. Lisa's path to the top position at Allied was forged through a single-minded work ethic to succeed combined with an enthusiastic attitude and boundless energy.
She began her career as a "floater" at the Ally & Gargano ad agency where she was "discovered" by Interep’s Debbie Durben, now President of the company's Marketing Group. Lisa joined Interep nearly 15 years ago as an Account Executive and four years later was named Vice President, Sales for the company's Group W Radio Sales rep firm. In 1996, she was named Vice President, Sales at Interep's CBS Radio Sales.
At McGavren Guild, Lisa's team is known as being loyal, passionate, and very innovative. "We work very closely with our clients and are fully integrated in their sales operations," she says.
Lisa is a three-time winner of Interep's prestigious Chairman's Circle Award, winning the "Most Valuable Performer" category in 1998 and the Meritorious Service designation in both 1999 and 2001. She ran Interep's "RAPPER" (Radio Apprentice) training program from 1995-98 and is an active member of the New York State Broadcasters Association and American Women in Radio & Television.
Most important, Lisa serves as a mentor to young women just starting out in the business. "I tell them that my experience at Interep has been that you can accomplish anything if you have the ability to do so," she says. "There is no glass ceiling here. Everyone is judged on his or her performance, which is exactly as it should be. I tell young people who are getting started in the business that they will be noticed and rewarded if they work hard and are effective at what they do."
