Laura
assumed her current position with Infinity Radio in
August 2000. As the GM, Laura has responsibility for
all station business operations including on-air programming,
sales, marketing & promotion, accounting & business
office and engineering & technical facility. Infinity
Radio Houston has combined annual revenues exceeding
$50 million dollars and employs more than 110 full-time
& 40+ part-time staff. As the home of the NFL expansion
Houston Texans football team, Infinity Radio Houston
now offers unique client services and strategies utilizing
the Texans platform to create and implement integrated
sales, marketing & promotional activities. Infinity
Broadcasting is a division of the Viacom Corporation;
sister business units in Houston include Viacom Outdoor
and Metro/Shadow Network Services.
Prior to Infinity, Laura
was the Vice President of Administration & Broadcast
with the Houston Texans and was instrumental in creating
and hiring the team’s front office staff, establishing
PSL and suite sales efforts, formulating team brand
identity and strategy and led the effort to secure the
2004 Super Bowl event for Houston.
From 1988 to 1999, Laura
was the Vice President and General Manager of NewsRadio
KTRH and KBME-AM, where she negotiated and implemented
major sports marketing agreements with the Oilers, Astros,
Rockets and Aeros and led KTRH to its dominant news
and information position in the Houston market in both
ratings and revenue. Laura joined KTRH in 1981 as Executive
Producer for talk programming and was the Director of
News & Programming from 1983 until being named VP/GM
in 1988.
Prior
to radio, Laura worked as a director and designer in
several off and off-off Broadway theatres in New York
City and was in residence at the WPA Theatre and worked
with Howard Ashman (writer/director of “Little
Shop of Horrors” and later“The Little Mermaid”).
She participated in the original productions of “Key
Exchange” and “Nuts”.
Laura is a graduate
of the Rice University Jesse H. Jones School of Business
Executive Management MBA program and received her undergraduate
degree at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey with
majors in Theatre Arts and Political Science.
An
active member of the Houston community, Laura is the
past president of the Texas Association of Broadcasters
(1999-2000) and Better Business Bureau of Houston (1994-1996)
and currently serves on the Executive Committees of
both organizations. She served on the Board of Trustees
of the Houston Museum on Natural Science (1988-2002)
and was the Chair of the Communications Committee and
a member of the Executive Committee.
An
active outdoors enthusiast, Laura enjoys reading, kayaking,
fishing, swimming and generally pursues any water related
activity. Laura and her photographer/designer husband
Gary live in the Memorial village area of Houston with
their two sons, dog, cat, snake and fish.
