Beginning
her Radio career as a high-school radio station intern
in Detroit, Lynn is a 25+-year veteran of Radio sales,
station, and network management. She frequently served
as a Faculty Member for the RAB’s Managing Leadership
Conferences, and is now a Senior Vice President, Training
Division of the RAB. In this capacity, Lynn trains and
consults thousands of Radio Station personnel and Advertisers
each year.
Joining KIIS-FM / AM, Los Angeles before it’s
meteoric rise to fame, Lynn progressed to become President
& General Manager of the nation’s top-grossing
FM stations. During her tenure, KIIS-FM became the only
Los Angeles FM to ever achieve a record-breaking 10
Share and commanded the first-ever $2,000 rate for Rick
Dees’ morning drive. Anderson continuously focused
on delivering value-propositions to advertisers, elevating
the Cost Per Point in the Los Angeles market, and quietly
developing new sources of non-spot revenue. Under her
guidance, the KIIS-FM Sales Staff became the first in
a major market to concurrently achieve CRMC accreditation.
KIIS-FM
earned several Marconi and Billboard Awards for “Station
of the Year” under her leadership. Personally,
Lynn was recognized as "General Manager of the
Year," “Broadcaster of the Year” by
AWRT and also was profiled in Tom Peter’s book
"Radio: In Search of Excellence”, sharing
the secrets of Americas most admired and successful
Radio managers.
Yet
the element of Lynn’s success at KIIS for which
she feels the most accomplishment is the powerful senior
management team she built. Her simple philosophy has
always been “relentlessly hire or promote the
best”. As a result, of her 8 department heads,
6 were female. Further, in virtually every department
there was at least one female manager, many of whom
were also minorities.
As
a partner in the international syndication company Radio
Express, Lynn’s extensive background also includes
the creation of a global sales and marketing network
for advertisers. Additionally, Lynn consulted radio
stations worldwide, and functioned as an International
speaker, presenter, trainer and seminar leader in over
15 countries of the world, concentrating on the Latin
Americas and former Eastern Bloc countries of Europe
after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Senior
management positions with Metro Networks’ Southwest
Region and Chancellor Broadcasting’s San Francisco
cluster are also part of Lynn's multi-faceted media
experience. In addition, Lynn founded marketing and
sales consultancy, Broadcast Strategies, focusing on
revenue generation for mid and small market radio stations.
Lynn
holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration from
Michigan State University and performed her graduate
studies at U.C.L.A. A single mother of two daughters
for most of her career, Lynn is a native of Detroit,
a former resident of Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Now Lynn and her husband Michael Day (Founder &
CEO of Michael Day Media Incentives) now make their
home on Moon Dance Ranch, in the “Wine Country”
of Sonoma County, CA, raising llamas, emus, horses,
and a few grape vines while enjoying the fruit of the
region and activities of the Sonoma Coast!
