Joan Gerberding serves as Senior Vice President Advertiser Solutions of Private Label Radio, a division of DMI Music & Media Solutions, delivering customized in-venue programming, entertainment, advertising and sponsorships using customized brand messaging recorded in its world-class studios to create consumer targeted radio channels.
Joan has spent nearly 4 decades in the media and broadcasting industry. Radio Ink Magazine named her an unprecedented eight consecutive times to their top fifty prestigious Most Influential Women in Radio list and in 2002, she was named both the Number One “Most Influential Woman in Radio” and “Broadcaster of the Year.” Joan is one of the co-founders of and served as Spokesperson for the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) group since its inception in 2000 through 2007.
She was voted the national President of American Women in Radio and Television for two consecutive years; served as a Board member of the Radio Advertising Bureau. and she’s a member of the Steering Committee of the Paley Center for Media “she made it” initiative. Joan also holds the position of "subject matter expert" on the FCC Advisory Committee for Diversity. In 2007, with Gloria Steinem, Jane Fonda and a group of influential women, she helped to found the Women’s Media Center, in New York City.
Joan is no stranger to a variety of media or to building companies around new and innovative concepts. She has been EVP/COO of a privately held radio group of 21 radio stations based in the Northeast, President of a national advertising sales company and President and founder of a digital place-based media company to integrate digital place-based media into consumer and retail venues.
Over the years, she has a developed a proven record of accomplishments leading startups, capturing market share, driving growth in revenue and creating successful strategic marketing, branding and public relation campaigns. An innovative and strategic thinker, a dynamic and inclusive leader, she is known throughout the broadcasting industry for her strong people skills, her winning smile and her passion for radio.
Joan has been featured on various radio, TV, and cable talk shows, she has been a guest panelist and lecturer at numerous industry conferences, written and produced an award winning video and is a contributing writer to several industry magazines and educational broadcast journals.
When she's not hiking the world, she lives just outside of Princeton, in Skillman, NJ. |
